This spring, Ombudsman investigators fanned out across Alberta, visiting the northern and southern parts of the province.
On May 14, a team of investigators visited Slake Lake, meeting 11 residents at the Rotary Club of Slave Lake Public Library.
The following month, on June 12, investigators were in Brooks, meeting with 22 residents at the Brooks Public Library.
Less than a week later, on June 18, investigators and the Deputy Ombudsman visited Fort McMurray. They held an information session for 20 Alberta government staff, and met with residents throughout the day.
“Overall, the trips were a success in terms of meeting with concerned residents who felt they may have been treated unfairly, and helping inform Albertans about what our office can investigate,” said Daniel Johns, an Edmonton-based investigations manager.
Our next community visits are being planned for later this summer in Hinton and Olds.
