Alberta’s Ombudsman hosted all Canadian Council of Parliamentary Ombudsman (CCPO) members across Canada in May. In addition to holding the annual meeting, a tour was taken of the new Remand Centre in Edmonton. This was an excellent opportunity to view the centre.
A short meeting was also held with the Lieutenant Government, along with a tour of Government House and the Legislature.
As the outgoing vice-president, Mr. Hourihan was elected President of the CCPO for the next year. This is an important council of all the parliamentary Ombudsman in Canada where ideas, best practices, challenges and opportunities are discussed, seeking to enhance the services provided.
